Data Centre Efficiency: A Chinese Puzzle from a Private Sector Perspective

Wil-Cunningham Wil Cunningham, Disaster Recovery Extension Program – Delivery Lead, Lloyds TSB, joins the Data Centre Strategy Forum to discuss the importance of getting every piece of the puzzle in place to successfully challenge data centre waste in the financial market.

“…traditionally, especially in the data centre space, there’s probably a never-ending budget, very deep pockets, and therefore nobody really had to consider efficiency in the context of IT budgets. There was always going to be a budget there for data centre space. I think we’re in a world now where we can no longer expect that to be the case, and therefore, with still rapid and everincreasing demands on budgets, and especially if that is translated into data centre space, a new strategy, a new way of thinking, a new ethos, if you like, is actually something that is required for people who are accountable for data centre space.”

Choosing the Right Technology to Complete the Picture from a Public Sector Perspective

Adrian-Smales Adrian Smales, Senior Independent IT Consultant and an expert in the experience of using different virtualisation technology – a comparative analysis, joins Technology IQ to discuss data centres from a public sector perspective, looking specifically at museums and heritage.

“business goals and drivers and existing technology. It’s very important to make sure that we can really sweat assets and maximise efficiency and make sure that we can drag all of the value out of technology. Processing and storage have improved greatly over the years. Virtualisation technology is a very good way of being able to deliver more, I guess, bang for your buck.”
